How does a TRV work?

A TRV is a Thermostatic Radiator Valve and is found on many radiators.

Conversely, when the air temperature in the room falls below the desired level, the thermostatic head senses this and contracts, causing the valve to open and increase the flow of hot water through the radiator. This increases the heat output of the radiator and helps to maintain a steady temperature in the room.
