Gas Is Back but Heating Still Off?
If your gas supply has returned but heating still does not work, your boiler may have locked out.
This is normal.
Many boilers shut down automatically when gas stops.
Before You Reset
Check these first:
- Meter has credit
- Gas supply shows ON
- Gas is flowing normally
Only reset the boiler once gas is definitely back.
Step 1: Find the Reset Button
Look on the front of the boiler or control panel.
Most boilers clearly label the Reset button.
Cannot find one?
Check the boiler manual.
Step 2: Reset the Boiler
To reset:
- Press the reset button
- Hold for 3–5 seconds
- Let go and wait
The boiler should begin restarting.
You may hear:
- A fan
- Clicking sounds
- Ignition starting
This is usually normal.
No Reset Button?
Some boilers reset differently.
Try this:
- Turn the boiler off
- Wait 30 seconds
- Turn it back on
Some models use a dial or mode switch instead.
Step 3: Check Heating
Once the boiler starts:
- Turn up the thermostat
- Run a hot tap
- Check radiators
If they begin warming up, the system is working again.
Boiler Still Not Working?
Check:
- Meter still has credit
- Gas is still on
- Fault code showing on display
You may try one more reset only.
If it still fails, stop there.
Call a qualified engineer.
